NEW YORK, JUNE 16, 2008 — Primary Wave Music Publishing, one of the largest music publishers in the United States, today announced the launch of its West Coast office.  In addition, the company has expanded its Film & TV division, which focuses on identifying music publishing opportunities in the film and television industries.  Michelle Belcher, a successful music industry executive, heads the West Coast office, which is located in Los Angeles.

“Expanding our West Coast presence is an important step for our company and provides us with the opportunity to market our unique repertoire of music publishing assets for films, television shows and commercials,” said Justin Shukat, General Manager at Primary Wave

“I am very excited to build upon Primary Wave’s success in film and television,” said Michelle Belcher, General Manager, West Coast, and Partner.  “In addition, I am looking forward to establishing an environment on the West Coast where our writers and artists feel comfortable to pursue their creative endeavors.”

Prior to joining Primary Wave, Ms. Belcher worked at BMG Music Publishing in film and television, where she negotiated work-for-hire agreements, initiated marketing strategies, and pitched and placed songs for Coldplay, The Who and Christina Aguilera, among many others.  She has also worked in soundtrack production at Columbia, Arista and Morgan Creek Records.  Ms. Belcher began her career at The Gordy Company.

The company’s team in Los Angeles also includes two executives with extensive ties to the film, television and creative communities:

Diana Turk is responsible for pitching and placing music into films, television programs, trailers, video games and advertising media in addition to seeking out lucrative marketing opportunities for the company.  Ms. Turk’s experience includes five years at Right Bank Music, where she rose through the ranks to pitch and place songs in all facets of film and television media.

Shara Prophet assists in facilitating marketing objectives in addition to pitching for film and television. Ms Prophet comes from BMG/Universal Music Publishing, where she handled writer dispute resolutions and researched and processed new song information.  Prior to that she worked at Gimbel Music Publishing.

Also part of Primary Wave’s Film & TV division is Robin Joseph, Senior Creative Director, Film & TV, who is based in New York and reports to Michelle Belcher.  Ms. Joseph worked for New Line Cinema, where she negotiated rights and fees with publishers and master owners for all source music used in various entertainment programming.  She currently pitches and places songs for Primary Wave. She is also a music supervisor whose credits include the hit NBC show “American Gladiators” and “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.”
