A&R Creative Manager, Publishing (New York, NY)

Primary Wave Music publishing is seeking an A&R creative manager based in New York who will work with songwriters and producers to set up sessions, critique records, manage calendars and budgets, track industry charts, and source new talent. The right candidate will have 2-3 years of experience and relationships with A&Rs and managers. Must be organized, detail oriented, and have the ability to multitask as this role encompasses both the creative and administrative aspects of publishing A&R. This person must be adaptable to various tasks across marketing, event management, creative pitching for synchronization, budgeting, etc.

Music Streaming Specialist (Nashville, TN)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Gaither Music & Green Hill Music Group are seeking a Music Streaming Specialist to join our digital marketing team in Nashville. You will identify and curate the music playlist listening experiences for our catalog of religious, adult contemporary, and family listeners on various DSP’s (Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music, etc.). You will be instrumental in how we build artist stories, drive meaningful fan connections and grow artist careers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop marketing strategies that help grow our streaming narrative.
  • Develop strong relationships with partners across all DSP platforms.
  • Build creative artist & “themed” playlists for Gaither and Green Hill roster of artist. Pitch and secure editorial playlists, features, and other promotions & marketing opportunities for our artists.
  • Ability to analyze data around a song and draw conclusions informing the strategy to continue building songs at streaming services.
  • Constantly work to discover the new features, understand those implications, and teach methodology across the company.
  • Think globally and help develop strategies that expose audience to new audiences.
  • Work closely with internal talent management and publishing teams to develop and maximize opportunities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of music industry experience; strong preference given to candidates with digital marketing or DSP experience
  • Demonstrated passion for music, especially in the religious, adult contemporary, and family music genres
  • Strong knowledge of music publishing and catalog repertoire
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Superior communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent technical skill set
  • Adobe Creative Suite knowledge a plus

Digital Design Intern (New York, NY – Fall 2019)

Primary Wave Entertainment is seeking college students to participate in our internship program in either the New York or Los Angeles office. The Digital Design Intern will produce marketing content for Primary Wave clients including social media graphics, ads, and gifs, and will work closely with the digital marketing department to assist with social media campaigns.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Passionate about music and the marketing & promotion of it!
  • Marketing, Graphic Design, Fine Art, or Visual Communications majors preferred
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is a major plus!
  • Excellent time management skills with an ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in photo retouching is a major plus!
  • Experience with HTML layout and/or email layout is a major plus!

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the creation of social media and website assets
  • Brainstorm unique and engaging concepts to assist the marketing department with campaign creation

Responsibilities

– Data entry
– Research master/sync license ownership
– Listen and digest music for tagging purposes for ingestion

Requirements

– Must have strong knowledge of copyrights and publishing, and synchronization license.
– Must have a clear understanding of the difference between compositions and master recording.

Assignment: Choose your favorite film, TV show, ad, or game and describe what you like about the music, what about it stands out.

Requirements:
-This is an unpaid internship, so you must receive college credit.
-demonstrated interest/study in the music business (experience in playlisting preferred)
-adept at working across multiple genres of music
-deep knowledge of the digital world, especially with key streaming platforms
-comfort with using Photoshop or other image editing software preferred
-audio editing capability a plus

Branding and Marketing Intern (New York, NY – Fall 2019) 

Primary Wave is seeking to hire an intern in NYC to focus on Branding and Marketing.

Responsibilities:

To support our music publishing catalog business by identifying marketing opportunities that will result in increasing the net publishing shares for that catalog.  This is a huge priority when working at a music publishing company and the work could include the assistance in any one of the following areas listed below:

  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials including pitch decks, artist one-sheets, and sizzle reels
  • Conduct brand/agency research in an effort to identify potential partnerships and appropriate contacts
  • Performing an analysis of our artists to ascertain artist history and demographic data
  • Contribute to team ideation sessions for potential new artists/catalog initiatives
  • Assist team in liaising with other departments including synch team, artist managers, and digital design
  • Perform standard clerical tasks including scheduling, asset organization, and business-related errands.
  • Assist in the execution of event marketing activations (sponsorships) and company events

Requirements:

  • Have experience in Photoshop/Illustrator/Creative suite software
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite

Secondary:

Assignment:

Manager of Synchronization/Marketing (Los Angeles, CA) 

Job Description:

 

Participate in weekly executive acquisition/deal meetings with senior management to evaluate catalog acquisitions, music publishing deals, songwriter/publishing administration deals, record label and other strategic partnerships (10%). Artists & repertoire (a&r) talent scouting, visit artist shows on behalf of primary wave and give feedback on artist performance, and identify emerging talent (5%). New music production projects/adaptations of classic copyrights, utilizing digital audio workstation (daw) software such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and Digital Performer (10%). Transcribe musical compositions and melodic lines utilizing the notation and compositional software Finale (10%). Hands-on creative direction and collaboration with the company’s roster of published writers and managed artists (5%). Report to senior management for current music technology needs including audiovisual technology for department meetings, and keep informed of industry trends (10%). Hosting and creating writing conferences/creative workshops, identification of venue logistics and selection of participants (5%). Attend conferences and events, such as BMI awards, guild of music supervisors media conference, or golden trailer awards (5%). Liaise with artist managers, attorneys, and other parties to obtain necessary approvals for all licensing requests (15%). Development of new song placement opportunities in tv, film, advertising, video games, and other media through our roster of publishing and management clients. Increasing the value of the music catalogs we control by strategically targeting song placements in various media, and management and exploitation of new music catalogs we have recently acquired. Assess tv shows’ musical genres and tones and cross-reference them with our music catalog (15%). Creation and management of email marketing campaigns to customers. Including steering creative direction, tailoring content, and scheduling timing of campaigns (10%).

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s (or foreign equivalent) degree in Marketing, Music, or related;
  • Two years of work experience in the job offered, or as a Management Consultant or related.
  • Some work experience or coursework or academic exposure to the following software required: Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Digital Performer, and Finale.
