New York, NY (June 28, 2012) – DATABOY, a spontaneous combustion of everything you love to hate and hate to love about pop music, released their debut album DREAMS ARE GOLD, following last weeks anticipated release of the eponymous single “Dreams Are Gold”, exclusively on POP CRUSH, who gave the track raving reviews, saying “The summer-y song fits into the musical landscape next to the likes Calvin Harris and Dr. Luke.”
The Austin, TX based duo, Adam Bailey & Cameron Maxwell, both 23 years old, have mastered the art of enmeshing seductive, Electro-pop production with exhilarating melodies and contagious lyrics. Put simply, DATABOY are hit-makers.
This past May, DATABOY previewed a few of the new album’s tracks on the release of their SUMMER NOW EP, a free giveaway for the duo’s rapidly growing fan base. The track “8-Ball” was praised by revered blogger ARJAN WRITES as “one of those high-grade pop confections that easily fits alongside tracks by The Wanted, One Direction, and other current chart-topping Brit pop.” He continued to note, “if this EP is any indication, “Dreams Are Gold” is shaping up to be a mightily exciting pop effort.”
DATABOY drew from a varied stable of inspirations to complete this new album, DREAMS ARE GOLD, including 80’s synth-pop groups like Erasure & Pet Shop Boys, which can be heard on the album’s “Shoplift Your Love “ & “Sweat Pt. 1.” The anthemic “Just Once,” easily stands up to contemporary smashes from artists like Karmin, Kesha, & Katy Perry, while the album opener “Genius” has a Mike Posner-esque swagger.
Prior to releasing DREAMS ARE GOLD, DATABOY successfully collaborated with a number of renowned EDM producers including a collaboration with the Dutch DJ Rune R.K. on the song “Memorize Me”. The video premiered on VEVO with over 180,000 views and was also featured by worldwide-star DJ Tiesto on his Club Liferadio show. Additionally in the EDM spade, DATABOY have collaborated with Ferry Corsten, Baggi Begovich, & Audien among others. The duo is also expected to be featured on the next single by European chart-topper Kid Massive.
