NEW YORK, NY, December 15th, 2009 — Primary Wave Music Publishing & Marketing, one of the largest music publishers in the United States, today announced a strategic partnership with the legendary British rock band Def Leppard and its band members/songwriters Joe Elliott (lead singer), Rick “Sav” Savage (bass), Phil Collen (guitar), Vivian Campbell (guitar) and Rick Allen (drummer).  Under the terms of the arrangement, Primary Wave will market and administer the band’s catalog of songs including the massive hits “Pour Some Sugar On Me”, “Photograph”, “Love Bites”, “Rock of Ages,” “Armageddon It,” “C’mon C’mon”, “Nine Lives”; songs that enabled the band to sell more than 100 million units worldwide.  Even through present day, Def Leppard remains one of a handful of groups including the likes of The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and The Eagles, who have been awarded the R.I.A.A.’s prestigious Diamond Award more than once (Pyromania and Hysteria).

“We couldn’t be happier to be a part of the Primary Wave family,” said Def Leppard lead singer Joe Elliott. “I am confident that Primary Wave is the best partner to tastefully market our catalog of songs to a wider popular culture audience.”

Commented Phil Collen, one of the band’s guitarists, “I’m excited to expand the reach and influence of our group and our songs.”

Said bassist Rick “Sav” Savage, “We are looking forward to this new and exciting relationship as a way to expose our songs to a new youth audience.”

“Def Leppard is one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll bands of our time,” said Primary Wave CEO Larry Mestel.  “We are honored to have the chance to work with them and are confident that we will be able to build upon the impact of their songs and the legacy that they will no doubt have for generations to come.”

Since releasing their first album in 1980, Def Leppard has released 13 albums and has remained a musical force with which to be reckoned throughout.  They continue to be one of the world’s best-selling live acts and their total worldwide album sales have exceeded 100 million.  Their 1987 release Hysteria is one of only a handful of albums (and the third in rock history) to chart seven singles or more on the US Hot 100: “Love Bites” (#1), “Pour Some Sugar on Me, (#2),” “Armageddon It” (#3), Hysteria” (#10), “Rocket” (#12), “Animal” (#19) and “Women” (#80). The album remained on the charts for more than three years and has sold over 18 million copies worldwide.

“Photograph,” the lead single from the band’s third album Pyromania, turned Def Leppard into a household name. The track became a staple of rock radio dominating the US Album Rock Charts for six months and also hit #12 on Billboard’s Pop Chart.  Fueled by “Photograph” and subsequent singles “Rock of Ages” and “Foolin',” Pyromania went on to sell six million copies in 1983 (more than 100,000 copies every week in that year) and has sold over 10 million units to date.

The group also scored massive hits from Adrenalize “Lets Get Rocked,” and “Stand Up (Kick Love Into Motion) both hit #1 on Billboard’s Album Rock Chart.  “Two Steps Behind,” from Retroactive hit #5 on Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Chart and the band’s most recent release, Songs From The Sparkle Lounge, debuted at #5 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart.
