Def Leppard Shares Video for Cover of Depeche Mode’s ‘Personal Jesus’ with Billboard Premiere!

November 28th, 2018

As fans wait to see if Def Leppard will make the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2019 (an honor for which they’re mightily qualified), Def Lep is keeping busy with a new compilation called The Story So Far – The Best Of, featuring three fresh tracks.

One of those is an official recording of the band’s fan-favorite cover of Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus (Rock On Remix),” which Billboard is premiering the video for below.

“‘Jesus’ is the sort of classic song that can be interpreted in many ways and as Def Leppard has always been the kind of band that can blend genres, it was an easy choice for us. It was that or ABBA!” says guitarist Vivian Campbell. And he has a point — their comfortable fluidity with genres was on full display with their excellent 2006 covers LP Yeah!

Def Leppard recently wrapped the North American leg of their co-headlining tour with Journey, which played to 1 million fans. Journey was inducted into the Rock Hall in 2017 — here’s hoping 2019 is the year for the British hard rock icons.
