Primary Wave Music Publishing is pleased to announce the addition of David Weitzman. Weitzman, who will focus on acquisition of iconic and legendary song writers for Primary Wave Music IP Fund 2 and its vast war chest, will be based out of the company’s Los Angeles office and will work closely with Founder & CEO, Lawrence Mestel, as well as President of PWMP, Justin Shukat. When asked about joining the publishing giant, Weitzman said “I am thrilled to announce this new chapter in my professional career joining Larry, Justin and the fantastic Primary Wave team as partner sourcing acquisitions to enhance the company’s aggressive growth strategy.”

“I have known David for quite some time. He had been a formidable opponent when at his former company” says Mestel. He goes on, “We couldn’t be happier to provide David a platform where his vast experience and talents can flourish.”

Weitzman joins Primary Wave from Anthem Entertainment Group. David began his music business career in the 90’s, working with record labels such as Rick Rubin’s American Recordings, iconic punk label, Epitaph Records, Sublime’s Skunk Records and infamous Red Ant Records. David worked in the A & R & radio promotion capacities working with platinum artists including Sublime, Rancid, The Black Crowes, Sir Mix a Lot, Ozzy Osbourne, Love & Rockets, and more. He transitioned to digital distributor Emusic during the dotcom boom of the late ’90s where he signed up independent labels and artists to exclusive digital distribution deals. After Emusic, David started music supervising audiovisual projects mostly in television including MTV hits, Jackass, Wildboyz, Rob & Big, and Run’s House. David’s next professional chapter was his entry into music publishing and asset acquisition at indie music publisher, ole. At ole, David signed legendary super producer, Timbaland for catalog and futures, led the acquisition of major film studio, Sony Pictures Entertainment’s music publishing assets, acquired the dynamic production music library, Jingle Punks, acquired RedOne’s 2101 Songs catalog and purchased catalog and futures of acclaimed veteran songwriter, Jeff Trott among many other successful transactions.
