MARTINA MCBRIDE IS THE LATEST TO PARTNER WITH PRIMARY WAVE MUSIC
THE PARTNERSHIP WILL SEE THE INDEPENDENT PUBLISHING POWERHOUSE ACQUIRE A STAKE IN THE AWARD-WINNING SINGER’S MASTER ROYALTIES
SONGS INCLUDE “INDEPENDENCE DAY,” “THIS ONE’S FOR THE GIRLS,” “A BROKEN WING,” “VALENTINE” AND OTHERS
Critically acclaimed Country Country music icon Martina McBride is the latest legendary artist to partner with Primary Wave Music. The deal, which was announced today, will see the independent publishing powerhouse acquire a stake in the award winner’s master royalties for her first ten albums released by Sony, as well as master copyrights for her 2014 release Everlasting and 2018’s It’s the Holiday Season. This exciting partnership includes a number of the Grammy nominee’s biggest hits across her incomparable 30+ year career. Songs include “Wild Angels” which was released in 1995 and shot to number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, giving Martina her first number-one single on that chart. Additional songs include her second number-one single, “A Broken Wing” and the top 5 hit “This One’s for the Girls.” Her 1993 single “Independence Day” is also included in the partnership. Since its release, the song has been placed on several lists including CMT’s 100 Greatest Songs of Country Music and Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Country Songs.
McBride’s 2018 and top-ten holiday release, It’s the Holiday Season, is a welcome addition to Primary Wave Music’s growing roster of holiday classics. The nine-track album features her versions of “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town,” “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Winter Wonderland,” and more. A fan favorite, the album also saw incredible response from the critics. The Knoxville News Sentinel raved, “The Christmas album couldn’t be more widely appealing: It’s a frothy collection of traditionally arranged renditions of some of the most recognizable secular holiday songs, and though McBride is an established country singer, ‘It’s the Holiday Season’ isn’t country … which only broadens its mainstream charm.”
Martina’s partnership with Primary Wave Music will now give her access to the Primary Wave marketing, digital and branding teams, as well as the publishing infrastructure which includes licensing and synch opportunities.
“It is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with Martina and the catalog of incredible songs she has built throughout her career,” said Dominic Pandiscia, Chief Strategy Officer of Gaither Music Group & Primary Wave Business Development. He goes on, “She has been a powerful voice in the Country genre with songs that touch fans across all music genres. Martina, we welcome you to the Primary Wave family.”
Jess L. Rosen, Greenberg Traurig, LLP negotiated the deal on behalf of Martina McBride.
