New York, NY (April 12, 2024) – Award-winning Rockstar and activist Melissa Etheridge releases “The Shadow of a Black Crow (Live From Topeka Correctional Facility)”, the first single off her upcoming album, I’m Not Broken (Live From Topeka Correctional Facility). Available on all streaming platforms today, the single comes as one of 12 tracks featured on the singer’s forthcoming live album, to be released this July 5th via the legendary Sun Records. Initially written for her son Beckett Cypheridge, who succumbed to opioid addiction in 2020, “The Shadow of a Black Crow (Live From Topeka Correctional Facility)” is the first of many ultra-personal live recordings to come from the record. Accompanying the track’s release, Etheridge also delivers a beautifully stylistic animated lyric video to pair with the single. Fans can enjoy the video HERE and pre-order I’m Not Broken (Live From Topeka Correctional Facility) NOW!

Recorded live within the grounds of the Topeka Correctional Facility, I’m Not Broken features raw and rousing versions of specially curated fan favorites and original songs. Mixed by Vance Powell (Chris Stapleton, Wanda Jackson, Taylor Swift), the record captures Etheridge’s powerful message of hope through song, as she plays for the prison’s 2,500 female residents. Along with moving live renditions, the recording is filled with earnest stage banter from Etheridge and approving cheers from the residents, offering a true ear into the atmosphere of the full-production concert.

Etheridge’s upcoming live album comes in part of the recently announced two-part docuseries, MELISSA ETHERIDGE: I’M NOT BROKEN, exclusively on Paramount+. The project follows the award-winning rocker’s honest and humbling journey both penning and performing an original song inspired by her correspondence with residents of the Topeka Correctional Facility. An inspiring story of connectivity, empathy, and music’s power to heal, the documentary will arrive on the streaming platform later this year.
