March 29th, 2021

AND FUTURE DISTRIBUTION RIGHTS IN ALL EXISTING MASTER RECORDINGS

World-renowned classical musicians, The Piano Guys (Jon Schmidt, Steven Sharp Nelson, Paul Anderson, Al van der Beek), are the latest artists to join the Primary Wave Music Publishing family. The deal, that was announced today, will see the publishing powerhouse acquire worldwide income and future distribution rights in the critically acclaimed group’s existing recordings, and worldwide publishing administration rights in the group’s future musical compositions. Tracks include some of their biggest hits, such as “A Thousand Years”, “Beethoven’s 5 Secrets”, “The Cello Song”, “Over the Rainbow / Simple Gifts”, “Fight Song / Amazing Grace”, “Just the Way You Are”, “Michael Meets Mozart”, “Cello Wars”, and “Code Name Vivaldi”. The group have appeared on countless television programs including The Tonight Show, TODAY, CBS Sunday and more, and have been covered by press across the world with features in the New York Times, USA Today, People Magazine and others. In 2011, The Piano Guys posted their first video to YouTube and have since garnered over two billion views across the platform. Each of their seven albums have soared to number one on Billboard’s Classical Albums or New Age charts upon release.

Primary Wave will work with The Piano Guys to market their name and likeness, as well as providing access to the company’s marketing team and publishing infrastructure, which includes digital strategy, licensing, synch opportunities as well as film, television and theatrical production.

The Piano Guys are a global YouTube sensation who perform classical renditions of today’s pop hits and create grandiose music videos in exotic locations, such as The Great Wall of China and Iguazu Falls on the border of Argentina and Brazil. Their versions of One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful”, Frozen’s “Let It Go”, David Guetta and Sia’s “Titanium” and Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years”, which went GOLD, are huge hits on YouTube. The songs have also been streamed over a billion times across the globe. The band have appeared on major TV programs worldwide. They have sold out shows around the globe, from Royal Albert Hall to Carnegie Hall to the Syndey Opera House to every major venue in the USA including Red Rocks, The Greek, Wolf Trap and Ravinia. This talented group has seven hit albums to their credit: The Piano Guys, The Piano Guys 2, A Family Christmas, Wonders, Uncharted, Christmas Together, and Limitless, all of which have charted on the Billboard Top 30. They have made it to #1 for over 300 weeks on various Billboard, iTunes, and Amazon charts. In May 2016 their first album was certified GOLD in the USA. A rare achievement for any artist these days, in particular for an instrumental group.
