Primary Wave Grammy Winners!

March 16th, 2021

Primary Wave Music happily congratulates two management clients on their GRAMMY wins last night during the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards in Los Angeles, CA. Beloved reggae band, Toots and the Maytals, took home their second career GRAMMY this time for “Best Reggae Album” for their critically acclaimed album, Got to Be Tough. The bittersweet win comes just six months after Frederick “Toots” Hibbert died at the age of 77. Released in September of last year, Got to be Tough received rave reviews across the board with Pitchfork declaring, “the reggae legend returns in force on his latest album displaying the indomitable spirit he has cultivated throughout his career.”

Also celebrating a win is New York-based producer and songwriter, Pom Pom aka Kellen Pomeranz. This is the first GRAMMY win and nomination for Pom Pom, who won for her work on John Legend’s Bigger Love album which took home the trophy for “Best R&B Album.” Pom Pom co-wrote and produced the album’s lead single, “Conversations in the Dark.” Upon release a year ago, the single hit #1 on iTunes after Legend performed the song on the hit TV show “This is Us” and has since been certified gold.
