PRIMARY WAVE MUSIC OPENS UK OFFICE

Appointing European Music Industry Veteran Clive Black as Head of Primary Wave UK

NEW YORK, N.Y. (April 19th, 2012) — With offices already in New York City and Los Angeles, Primary Wave Music, one of the largest independent music publishing, marketing and talent management companies in the United States, is now expanding overseas to open a new office in the UK. Founder & CEO of Primary Wave Music, Larry Mestel, has brought in European music industry veteran Clive Black to spearhead this new venture as Head of Primary Wave UK.

“I'm excited to join the Primary Wave team and look forward to building a stronger presence, and opening new opportunities for their artists, writers and producers”, states Clive Black, Head of Primary Wave UK / Chairman of Blacklist Entertainment.

Previously, Clive Black worked as Director of A&R at EMI (UK) Records followed by Warner Music Group and back to EMI (UK) Records as Managing Director before leaving to start Blacklist Entertainment in 1997. Over the last twenty years, he has signed and released over a dozen number one singles in the UK including Return of the Mack / Mark Morrison , Spaceman / Babylon Zoo , Something’s Gotta Hold of my Heart / Marc Almond, Wanna be the Only One / Eternal, and Sleeping Satellite / Tasmin Archer. Black has worked closely with a diverse list of some of the biggest names in music including Kate Bush, Sir Cliff Richard, Kraftwerk, David Coverdale, Afrika Bambatta , Lee Scratch Perry and Robert Palmer and more recently Robbie Williams.

Through Blacklist’s buy out of edel Records UK in 2006 and the launch of dance label Free2Air, Black also had a #1 record with “Thunder in My Heart” by Meck. Additionally, Black has previously managed a diverse list of artists ranging from the legendary Donovan to working in partnership with Jimmy Rosemond’s company Czar managing hip hop superstar The Game. In 2008, Black became President of The SPZ Group (owned by record producer Trevor Horn) and also managed Trevor Horn via his Blacklist Company until the end of 2010. With Primary Wave Music already submerged in different business deals in the UK, this European expansion was the next natural and necessary step for this fast growing music & entertainment company.

“Now is the perfect time to bring in a European partner to expand resources overseas and Clive is a force in the British music business”, states Larry Mestel, Founder & CEO of Primary Wave Music. “It’s great to have him on board to be the Head of Primary Wave UK.”

In December 2011, Primary Wave Music's TV development and production team, Primary Wave TV, produced and sold a new reality series featuring CeeLo Green (a Primary Wave Talent Management artist), which will begin filming again in summer 2012 and premiere in the fall on UK’s Channel 4. With CeeLo Green’s largest audience-base being the UK, this has also increased European travel and business, and opened up new relationships such as the discovery of the British teen boy band GMD3, which Primary Wave currently manages.
