TERMS OF THE DEAL WILL SEE THE PUBLISHING GIANT INVEST IN FURTHER BRAZILIAN MUSIC PUBLISHING CATALOGS AND ACQUISITIONS
NEW YORK, N.Y. (February 1, 2024) – Primary Wave Music, the leading independent publisher of iconic and legendary music in the world, announces today their partnership with the Brazilian music company, Nas Nuvens Catalog. Brazil’s music market is one of the largest and fastest growing in the world, making this partnership a pivotal step in Primary Wave’s plan to expand further into international markets. Based in São Paulo, Nas Nuvens Catalog is the leading independent Brazilian company focusing on the acquisition, management, and marketing of music catalogs, and is one of the five largest music companies in Brazil. After researching the American catalog acquisition market, the company formed in 2021 from a partnership with the Brazilian private equity fund Starboard Partners and Liminha, a music market professional, to replicate Primary Wave’s model in Brazil.
Nas Nuvens Catalog has become one of the most successful music companies in the country. Much like Primary Wave, Nas Nuvens Catalog partners with their artists acquiring partial stakes in their music catalogs with a focus on legendary and iconic music. NNC’s Chief Financial Officer, Gabriel Sacardo, noted “When we created Nas Nuvens Catalog, we were inspired by Primary Wave’s business model.” Today, NNC controls a catalog of over 30,000 songs written and performed by some of the most influential composers and artists, not only in Brazil but around the world including Carlinhos Brown, Arlindo Cruz, Vanessa da Mata, Torquato Neto, Rodolfo Abrantes, Vinicius Cantuária, César Augusto, Accioly Neto, and other legendary names.
