NEW YORK, N.Y. (December 11, 2017) – Primary Wave Music Publishing, the leading U.S. independent music publishing company, announced today their acquisition of the award-winning songwriter Holly Knight’s music publishing catalog. The agreement includes some of her biggest hits including “The Best,” “Love Is A Battlefield,” and “The Warrior.” Knight has written some of the biggest hits in music and her songs have appeared on records totaling over 530 million in record sales.
“While it’s never easy to release your life’s work into the hands of someone else, this partnership with Primary Wave made complete sense to me,” says Knight. She goes on, “They are not taking my songs, they are tending to them and ensuring that they are heard and live on. The resources they provide to a songwriter are deep and spill into everything that interests and stimulates my creative juices. I’m happy that my ‘babies’ have found the perfect home, and am looking forward to an ongoing relationship that spans all forms of music, including Broadway!”

Holly Knight is a Grammy Award-winning songwriter, vocalist and musician of pop and rock music. In 2013, she was inducted into The Songwriters Hall of Fame. Winner of thirteen ASCAP awards, her songs have won three Grammys. She is known for having written hits for some of the most successful artists in music, including “The Best” performed by Bonnie Tyler, and later re-recorded by Tina Turner, as well as “Love Is a Battlefield” and “Invincible” performed by Pat Benatar. She has written songs with Heart, Aerosmith, Rod Stewart, and many more.
Her songs have been featured in box-office smashes such as movie soundtracks “Thelma & Louise,” “Vision Quest,” “Legend of Billie Jean,” “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome,” “The Secret of My Success,” “Stuart Little II,” “13 Going on 30,” “What The Bleep Do We Know?!,” and on hit TV shows including “Nip/Tick,” “American Idol,” “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “The Simpsons,” “Family Guy,” “30 Rock,” “South Park,” and the finale episode of The Voice, wherein CeeLo Green performed a duet of “Love Is A Battlefield” with one of the final contestants.
