PRIMARY WAVE MUSIC WELCOMES MANAGER STEPHEN HUTTON TO HELP BUILD ROCK & POP DIVISION

Expanding Primary Wave’s Reach in Talent Management from Rock, Hip Hop, Pop & EDM

New York, NY (August 24th, 2012) – Continuing to increase their resources and presence in Talent Management, Primary Wave Music, one of the largest independent music publishing, marketing and talent management companies in the US, confirms that noted music manager Stephen Hutton, Founder of Uppercut Management, will join the team to help build Primary Wave Talent Management’s rock and pop divisions. Hutton has been a major force in the rock and pop music world, helping to build and guide artists’ careers such as Kid Rock, Big Kenny (Big & Rich), Better Than Ezra, All That Remains, The Heavy, Kill Hannah, Dom, etc.  In addition, Hutton will continue to look after his roster of writers and producers, who have yielded several #1 singles in the Rock, Pop and Country genres.

“I’ve watched Primary Wave build a great team over the years and I really respect the different resources and expertise they have under one roof,” states Stephen Hutton.  “I’m excited about this new venture and confident that we will see great results working together.”

This new addition to the Primary Wave team follows the entertainment company’s recent expansions, opening a new office in the UK headed by Clive Black, as well as bringing in Electronic Dance Music expert Hosh Gureli to lead the company into the exploding realm of EDM. In September 2011, Primary Wave Talent Management also created a new venture with Chris Lighty’s Violator Management to form Primary Violator, which further solidified the management company’s presence in the urban world with both veteran hip-hop managers Lighty and Michael “Blue” Williams in one office, on one team. From hip hop to rock and pop to dance, Primary Wave Music is expanding their reach in talent management by partnering with the best in the industry to attract, develop and maintain a diverse roster that currently includes artists ranging from CeeLo Green, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Eric Benet, Big Boi, Diggy, to Disney’s triple-threat Trevor Jackson, pop duo DataBoy, to the electronic worlds of Audien, and PaperCha$er, and even top music writer/producers managed by Tom Maffei like Brian Kennedy, The Underdogs, and Ali Tamposi, who wrote Kelly Clarkson’s hit “Stronger”, which just broke Carrie Underwood’s record to become the best-selling Idol single of all time, selling over 3.5 million copies.

“Rock music is the core of our music publishing catalogs and it’s exciting to bring in Steve on the management team to help discover the current, rising rock stars and continue to grow our talent management division,” states Larry Mestel, Founder & CEO of Primary Wave Music.

As a leader in the rock music world, Primary Wave Talent Management calls on Hutton to team up with Primary Wave to help discover and sign developing and established acts, while also continuing to manage his current roster, which includes artists like Active Rock leaders All That Remains, indie rock group Dom, southern rock band Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster, and new comer Escort, who both Rolling Stone and Spin recently named as having one of the year’s best records to date. Additionally, Primary Wave’s Jason Fields, who joined the management team in 2011, has also helped sign acts to their rock division such as Alien Ant Farm, Street Drum Corps, A Lion Named Roar, Alabama Capital and more. Primary Wave Talent Management’s new rock division will combine all artists from both rosters.

“Steve's passion, coupled with his expertise in creatively managing and branding artists, will be a great asset to Primary Wave and our clients,” says Rob Dippold, Head of Primary Wave's Digital Marketing division, BrightShop.  ”Steve and I have a long history of working together and I am thrilled to be aligned with him again.”
