Purple Rain is headed to Broadway’s Majestic Theatre, with previews beginning March 12th, 2027, ahead of opening night on April 12th.
Set in 1984 Minneapolis, the musical follows The Kid, a rising performer navigating ambition, personal struggles, and his journey into the spotlight. Featuring music by Prince, the production includes more than 20 of his songs, including “Let’s Go Crazy,” “When Doves Cry,” “I Would Die 4 U,” “Take Me With You,” and “The Beautiful Ones.”
The musical features a book by Peter Duchan, choreography by Ebony Williams, music supervision, arrangements and orchestrations by Jason Michael Webb, and direction by Saheem Ali. Prince collaborators Bobby Z and Morris Hayes will serve as Music Advisers.
Casting will be announced at a later date, with tickets going on sale through Telecharge in September.
