ABOUT NEIL SEDAKA

Born on March 13, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York, Neil Sedaka showed extraordinary musical talent from an early age. He studied piano at the prestigious Juilliard School of Music’s preparatory program, where he developed the classical training that would shape his songwriting for decades to come.

By the late 1950s, Sedaka had emerged as a rising star in the Brill Building songwriting community, where he and Howard Greenfield began crafting hits that would soon dominate the pop charts. His early recordings—including “Oh! Carol” and “Calendar Girl”—quickly established him as one of the defining voices of early 1960s pop. Sedaka experienced a remarkable second wave of success in the 1970s with international hits like “Laughter in the Rain” and “Bad Blood,” proving his ability to reinvent himself for new audiences.

Over the course of a career spanning more than six decades, Neil Sedaka wrote or recorded hundreds of songs, sold millions of records worldwide, and influenced generations of songwriters and performers.
