STREET DRUM CORPS WINS DRUM! MAGAZINE’S 2012 BEST PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE
DRUM! Magazine, the best source for drumming news, announced the winners of their 17th Annual Drummies! Awards, which celebrates the world’s leading drummers and percussionists of all styles. After being nominated for many years, the punk rock percussion band Street Drum Corps won this year’s “Drummies!” Award for best “Percussion Ensemble”. Last year they tied Blue Man Group in this same category and other past recipients of Drummies! include Blink 182’s Travis Barker, Quest Love and many more. This prestigious award directly follows all the buzz that Street Drum Corps generated by their dynamic performance at this year’s Electric Daisy Carnival in Vegas in June.
Known for their high-energy percussion shows, which Kevin Lyman, Founder of Van’s Warped Tour, calls a “Punk Rock Stomp,” Street Drum Corps uses “found” and traditional instruments to bring an unparalleled element to their live show. Bobby Alt, Adam Alt, and Frank Zummo formed Street Drum Corps in Los Angeles in 2004, and have been touring the world for the last 8 years in over 30 countries reaching millions of fans. They’ve supported acts on tour such as Linkin Park, 30 Seconds To Mars, The Used, hit the festivals from Electric Daisy to Coachella, and even made an appearance in May on American Idol. This #1 Percussion Ensemble band has released three albums to date and they are currently finishing a new album that is scheduled for a 2013 release. Additionally, this summer Street Drum Corps is touring nine theme parks nationwide as an added, new musical attraction at Six Flags, Arizona State Fair, Cedar Fair and more.
